We can't keep sitting back and pretending to love Jesus while we promote sin.
Jesus died. We act like that was nothing. "Jesus died for my sins to save me!" It's said like a nursery rhyme, but do we really understand what it means?
He died gruesomely. Think about if it was your Dad, your brother, your best friend, your spouse. Think about this person that you love dearly, going to the cross and dying, paying your debt and mine, so that you can be set free from the cost of sin. Instead of having to give your life for the mistakes you've made, your dad, brother, best friend, spouse died. Instead of everyone on this earth dying, He died. He died. He suffered, was tortured, and died.
And then we take that knowledge and look at our friend and say "you do you". We take that knowledge and we go online and watch porn. We take that knowledge and we flirt with someone who isn't our spouse. We take that knowledge and we harm our own bodies with over eating, drinking, and smoking. We take the knowledge of His death and instead of saying to ourserlves "I don't want to cheapen what He experienced. I don't want to treat it like it was nothing by living a life that isn't honoring and glorifying to God", instead we hook up with the next fling.
What is wrong with us? How can we treat His life so cheaply? The God who not only created us, but then bought us with His blood. If someone gave their life for someone else, is it then appropriate for that someone else to turn around and remain plastered at the bar for eternity? Shouldn't it inspire something in that someone else to say "I want to live my life to honor the one who gave their life for me. I want to make them proud. I want to live a life that is full and filling for other people. I want to make their sacrifice worth something by living the best life I can possibly live."
Isaiah 30:12-14
“Because you have rejected this message, relied on oppression and depended on deceit, this sin will become for you like a high wall, cracked and bulging, that collapses suddenly, in an instant. It will break in pieces like pottery, shattered so mercilessly that among its pieces not a fragment will be found for taking coals from a hearth or scooping water out of a cistern.”
There is consequence for sin. For our own sin, but we need to realize there is consequence for promoting sin too. That high wall that cracks and collapses will damage more then just the wall, but it will cause destruction all around it too. We can't stay close to sin and not get damaged by it.
Song of Solomon 2:15 says "Catch for us the foxes, the little foxes that ruin the vineyards, our vineyards that are in bloom."
We need to catch the little foxes that sneak into the vineyard of God and eat the buds off the vine. They destroy the harvest before it even has a chance to bloom. We can't stand back and let temptation even creep into our vineyards. We can't stand by and watch while sin or temptation makes its attempts. We need to get rid of it right now. Get rid of it while it is small, before it grows and it's impossible then to salvage. Don't let sin and temptation creep in. And don't promote sin or temptation in your brothers and sisters. If it is within your ability to keep the little foxes out, do it, before it comes back on you.
