An Answer – Be Still

Writer's picture: Sharon JonesSharon Jones
psalm-121-1-2

I have been wrestling with lots of things in my mind recently. After my husband and I had an amazing reunion on Sunday, I started to question if I should continue in this divorce or let it fall through. God, thank you for never giving up on me, even though I am stubborn. Thank you for giving me the right answers and showing me your way.

Isaiah 30:21 Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”.

I have to be slow to open my heart to both my family and to Chris. He won’t care unless he truly understands he is alone with the Lord. They won’t care because they have their own intentions. The only person I can rely on Lord is you. Help me to avoid the middle man and just open your word. Whatever you want me to do, I will do it.

Psalm 46:10 says “Be still and know that I am God…”

Stop. Just stop. Give your problems all over to God. Ephesians 2:8-9 says “For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, that no one should boast.. ” I realize now that that encounter was a moment of encouragement for Chris from God. He said himself “This is just motivation for me to get myself right.” Lord, you did that to give him hope. But for me, I have to pull away. I get it God.

I am done Lord. You have the right job out there for me. You have the right husband out there for me. You have my future in the palm of your hands. I’m done being a performing monkey. I want to enjoy you and I can’t cling to the past. Thank you God my yesterday is gone.

The picture is me standing in front of a mountain. I tried to climb, but I failed and fell. I can’t climb this mountain. I will life my eyes to you Lord and you will get me up this mountain. And Chris is on the other side of the mountain, also climbing and failing. When he lifts his eyes to You, you will also bring him up. We will find each other at the top. When we trust you, you take us each individually to the top. Lord help me!

Isaiaha 51:1-16

“Listen to me, you who pursue righteousness and who seek the Lord: Look to the rock from which you were cut and to the quarry from which you were hewn; look to Abraham, your father, and to Sarah, who gave you birth. When I called him he was only one man, and I blessed him and made him many. The Lord will surely comfort Zion and will look with compassion on all her ruins; he will make her deserts like Eden, her wastelands like the garden of the Lord. Joy and gladness will be found in her, thanksgiving and the sound of singing.

“Listen to me, my people; hear me my nation: Instruction will go our from me; my justice will become a light to the nations. My righteousness draws near speedily, my salvation is on the way, and my arm will bring justice to the nations. The islands will look to me and wait in hope for my arm. Lift up your eyes to the heavens, look at the earth beneath; the heavens will vanish like smoke, the earth will wear out like a garment and its inhabitants die like flies. But my salvation will last forever, my righteousness will never fail.

“Hear me, you who know what is right, you people who have taken my instruction to hear: Do not fear the reproach of mere mortals or be terrified by their insults. For the moth will eat them up like a garment; the worm will devour them like wool. But my righteousness will last forever, my salvation through all generations”

Awake, awake, arm of the Lord, clothe yourself with strength! Awake, as in days gone by, as in generations of old. Was it not you who cut Rahab to pieces, who pierced that monster through? Was it not you who dried up the sea, the waters of the great deep, who made a road in the depths of the sea so that the redeemed might cross over? Those the Lord has rescues will return. They will enter Zion with singing; everlasting joy will crown their heads. Gladness and joy will overtake them, and sorry and sighing will flee away.

“I, even I, am he who comforts you. Who are you that you fear mortals, humans beings who are but grass, that you forget the Lord your Maker, who stretched out the heavens and who lays the foundations of the earth, that you live in constant terror every day because of the wrath of the oppressor, who is bent on destruction? For where is the wrath of the oppressor? The cowering prisoners will soon be set free; they will not die in their dungeon, nor will they lack bread. For I am the Lord your God, who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar – the Lord Almighty is his name. I have put my words in your mouth and covered you with the shadow of my hand – I who set the heavens in place, who laid the foundations of the earth, and who say to Zion, ‘You are my people.'”
