How can you explain the difference between Islam and Christianity to an atheist? Both Islam and Christianity are theistic world views, but they do not serve the same god. Jesus and Mohammad are both central figures to these worldviews, but Jesus is considered God in Christianity and a prophet in Islam. While Islam is arguably the fastest growing religion, the God of Christianity is constantly revealed to unbelievers. Reading the Bible and the Quran will reveal the truth that God is the one true God, Jesus is God in the flesh, and the Gospel of Jesus is absolute truth.
Islam and Christianity are both theistic worldviews, meaning they both follow a god or gods. Muslims call their god Allah, while Christians hold that their God is one God in three parts, called the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Muslims believe that Allah is the same god as the God of the Christians. Because of this, they follow both the Quran and the Bible. “The more I studied the Bible and the Quran, the more I realized both could not be true.” says Doctor Hormoz Shariat in an interview called Iran’s Secret Revival. In fact, Doctor Shariat goes on to describe Allah in the Quran as being more like Satan than God. Even though this worldview attempts to offer a god of order, Allah ultimately calls himself the greatest liar in the Quran and encourages and praises lies. How can this be God, if Allah is the same god as the God in the Bible? The God of the Bible offers love as a solution to people’s problems. Clearly Islam disproves itself.
In the Quran Jesus is described as only a prophet. In the Bible, though, Jesus literally calls himself God. In John 10:30, Jesus says “I and the Father are one.” He also calls himself the Son of Man, which is referencing back to Daniel chapter 7, talking about how the Son of Man is God. If Jesus says he is God, but the Quran says he is just a prophet, once again, Islam is disproving itself. Both the Bible and the Quran can’t be true about who Jesus was.
Despite Islam being the fastest growing religion, the God of Christianity is working Himself to disprove Islam and reveal himself to Muslims. Kyle Davidson Bair wrote an article called Jesus Appearing to Muslims. In this article he says, “Those who know nothing of Jesus are meeting Him in their dreams.” This article talks about a woman who was paralyzed and saw Jesus in a dream. She called out to him, “Please heal me,” and when she woke up, she could walk. The worldview of Islam attempts to offer healing, but only the worldview of Christianity can show miracles. Only the true God could reveal himself in people’s dreams and actions.’
Both Islam and Christianity are theistic, but only Christianity is entirely true. The god of Islam is like Satan, but the God of Christianity is a God of love. Jesus is described as a prophet in Islam, which contradicts itself, since in the Bible, Jesus says He is Lord. Despite Islam’s rapid growth, God is so loving that He continues to reveal Himself to Islamic people and prove His authority with miracles. The best way to explain the difference between the Islamic and Christian worldviews is to show that one follows Satan while the other follows God.
